Free Download (approx. 80 MB, zipped setup) The DDB Explorer Edition is a stripped down – but still useful and completely free – basic version of the DDB and the DDB software package Version 2006. Note for Windows Vista users: If the program Dortmund Data Bank fails to start on Windows Vista® please download and install DDBSP2006 Hotfix2 (3885 kB). The DDB (and the DDB software package) gives an insight view in process engineering, it helps designing chemical processes, it provides ideas how to separate a system containing an azeotrope, displays the solubility effects of liquids in liquids (mixing gaps), solids in solids, gases in liquids, and many more useful information. It not only contains experimental data for mixtures and pure components but also a wealth of utilities to handle, manage, use, display, import, export, and even create useful information for engineers, chemists, and students learning chemical engineering. But, of course, only the full version of the DDB and the DDB software package will give access to the complete features. The Explorer Edition contains data for 30 components (see table below) and for the mixtures that can be build from these components. These data can be displayed, printed, copied, plotted, regressed and exported. Estimation models for several pure component properties like critical values or normal boiling point are included. This “Artist” program contains methods published in current literature and provides an introduction to group contribution methods. Prediction methods for phase equilibrium data are also available. The methods are based on group contributions and include gE models (UNIFAC, mod. UNIFAC) and equations of states (PSRK). Fitting parameters for gE models like UNIQUAC, NRTL, and Wilson is included. Please take a look at the Feature Matrix (PDF, 107 KB) where this free Explorer Edition is compared to the Teaching Edition of the DDB and the software package. The Teaching Edition contains a lot more data, a lot more models, and it even allows to enter your own data. A Feature Matrix (PDF, 108 KB) comparing the Teaching Edition and the Complete Edition is also available. The Introductory Course for DDB/DDBSP Version 2006 (PDF, 2.1 MB) can be used to get a better insight to the capabilities of the program package.
