IntroductionThe DDB online search is a free service provided by DDBST GmbH. It allows searching the Dortmund Data Bank for the availability of thermophysical data. While at the beginning mainly VLE data for non-electrolyte mixtures (Tb > 0 °C) were considered, later on also VLE including compounds with Tb<0°C, LLE, hE, g∞, azeotropic, cPE, SLE, VE, adsorption equilibrium, polymer data, ... for non-electrolyte and electrolyte systems as well as pure component properties were stored. The DDB currently contains 4.78 million data points for 37,670 components from 51,378 references. The data bank can be searched online for free (only data from the open literature are reported). The DDB online search is implemented as a CGI service on DDBST's web server. A direct call to this CGI service allows getting search results without using the web interface. CGI calls are done by normal URLs. The links below represent a single-line URL, even if they are broken into two lines because of page width restrictions. The search uses DDB numbers for indexing the content and therefore the DDB numbers of a component must be known. Search for ComponentsSearch critera are
Names CAS Registry Numbers Empirical Formulas DDB Numbers Exact Match SearchesPure Component Properties This command displays all pure component data of Toluene (DDB component #161). Binary and Higher Systems These commands display all data sets for Ethanol/Water (#11/#174) resp. for Ethanol/Methanol/Water (#11,#110,#174). The single components are separated by “,”. The “+1” behind the DDB component number represents component name #1 and can be omitted as shown in the second line. Subsystem SearchesBinary Subsystems of Higher Systems This displays all binary subsystems of the ternary system Ethanol/Methanol/Water. The binary subsystems are Ethanol/Methanol, Ethanol/Water, and Methanol/Water. Ternary and Higher Systems This command display all ternary subsystems of the system Acetonitrile/Ethanol/Methanol/Water (#3 with an alternative name,#11,#110,#174). ConclusionThe DDB online search is a powerful possibility to check if needed thermophysical data for the daily tasks of chemists, chemical and process engineers. The direct calls of the search result pages are helpful for the information of colleagues and other departments so they have a direct overview of the results without the need for searching themselves. |
