HPV - Vapor Liquid Equilibria of Low Boiling Substances

The HPV data file is of similar size than VLE. It contains different types of complete (x,y,P,T) or incomplete data for components with a normal boiling point below 0°C. Data reported in form of Henry or other coefficients are not included. These can be found in the GLE data bank. Mixtures with electrolytes (solvated ions) are not included as these can be found in the ELE and EGLE data banks.

This data bank is of great importance for customers working in the field of

  • gas processing, LNG applications
  • air liquification
  • supercritical fluid extraction
  • reaction engineering involving low boiling components and two phase (vapor-liquid) reactors
  • refrigeration and heat pumps
  • risk assessment (e.g. maximum pressure build-up)
  • ...

The following figure shows experimental and calculated (SRK) solubilities for the systems CO2(1) - octanol(2) (left hand side) and CO2(1) - naphthalene(2) (right hand side) at different temperatures as a function of pressure to illustrate the change of vapor phase concentration of the heavy boiling component with pressure for supercritical fluid extraction of liquids (left hand side) and solids (right hand side).
